St Andrew’s Old Church:

One of 3 churches in the town named after St Andrew. This one was built in the mid-1600s, the body of the church is still largely intact (though roofless) along with its west tower, and is surrounded by a graveyard containing a monument to Covenanter John Blackadder, who died on the nearby island of Bass Rock after being imprisoned there in the 1680s. His name is given to the 1880s replacement church – St Andrew Blackadder – on St Andrew Street.
